I attended a church for many years that taught strict obedience to a pastor's teachings, whether those things were specifically noted in the Bible or not. We were told what type of clothing was acceptable, how long or short hair should be, and not to wear jewelry. I left this church for many reasons, but several of the church members said it was because of disobedience in my heart. My question is: does the Bible give pastors the authority to tell us we can or cannot do these things?
