Every Sunday across October, we have reserved a portion of our service to highlight Black History Month and members of the black community within the life of our church, showing how heritage shapes our journeys as we’re getting a glimpse of their unique stories.
The Akosas – Danielle, with a Jamaican heritage and Ani with Nigerian roots, describe how their multicultural backgrounds have played a positive and impactful role in how they raise their young son Eden in today’s climate. Danielle’s mother Ionie, describes coming to the UK at a very young age as part of the Windrush Generation, and how instilling a sense of pride, belonging and community was important in order to combat the effects of racism and discrimination.
Danielle and Ani have been part of Hillsong for 7 years and both attend and serve at our North London Campus alongside the location pastors.
