The world despised Jesus to the point that He was crucified on the cross. In John 15, Jesus warns His followers that the world will hate them, too. That warning applies to those of us who follow Him today.
Jesus, through His church, is offering forgiveness, joy, comfort, peace, and love. These are things that people all over the world should desire. This world, however, is ruled by the pursuit of money, materialism, greed, and other secular ideals.
In this message, Dr. Stanley urges followers of Jesus to be set apart from the world, and even in the face of a world that despises them, to follow Him faithfully.
