Yvonne Ellis survived after being sexually abused by her father from the age of 9 years old for five years. Her mother and grandmother stood by her abuser denied her allegations which led Yvonne to spiral through the care system, suffer two nervous breakdowns and depression.
She talks to Dami Okeke about her experience and how her faith in Jesus helped her to help others who have been abused by setting up Daughter Arise which aims to support and empower all survivors of sexual abuse. Her story has been so compelling she was invited to do a TEDx talk on how people can empower survivors of sexual abuse with huge response.
