The incredible session from this year's Church and Media Conference on historical abuse in the church.
One of the biggest stories of the last forty years has been the uncovering of recent and historical abuse within the Church. Across the different traditions and in many countries, the heady mix of power, ritual and secrecy has created an ideal environment for some people to abuse others, often for years at a time. This session looks at the ways the media have reported on allegations and the ways church leaders have responded to the coverage. Paul Valley leads a thoughtful panel discussion with panellists Donald Findlater, Dr Dominic Allain, Peter Saunders and Ruth Gledhill.
