U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Israel again to press the Netanyahu government to change its military plans in the Gaza Strip. His visit comes as the U.S. pushes for a vote today in the U.N. Security Council for a mandatory ceasefire resolution and a call to release the Hamas-held hostages.
Russia attacked electrical power facilities in much of Ukraine, including the country’s largest hydroelectric plant, causing outages and killing at least five people. Officials say more than 60 drones and about 90 rockets were used in the attack.
And U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey says he will not run in the Democratic primary as he faces federal corruption charges. However, he is leaving open the possibility that he would reenter the race as an independent.
